LAKES BASEBALL EXPANDS INTO MILFORD
Fast Growing Youth Baseball Organization to maintain fields at Janowski Park
MILFORD, MI - Lakes Baseball, Oakland County's fastest growing youth baseball organization
announced today that a long-term partnership has been reached with the Village of Milford to expand
Lakes Baseball to the Carrie Janowski Memorial Athletic Park.
The park is named after Carrie Janowski, a Milford resident who passed away on May 22, 1985 at age
9. Carrie was an incredibly active young girl who played multiple sports and attended Lakeland
Elementary School.
Based in Commerce and in continuous operation since 1964, Lakes Baseball is a community and
volunteer-based non-profit that serves over 600 youth yearly between travel teams from the 8U to
18U levels through the LCB Legends program in addition to spring, summer and fall recreational
baseball programs at the t-ball to high school level. Lakes rec/house league registrations reached 650
last year, a number not seen since before the pandemic. The league is expecting that number to
increase for 2025, making this agreement not just historic in nature, but vital to the continued ability to
grow programs.
“It is very exciting to announce that Lakes Athletics and LCB Baseball have added a second park to our
organization,” noted Jay Fuhs, Vice President of Lakes Athletics and President of the LCB Legends
Travel organization. “Lakes and LCB has seen massive growth in both recreational and competitive
baseball, and adding this second park to our organization allows us to continue to set ourselves apart
from other organizations by ensuring all coaches have more than enough practice time on nicely
manicured fields, while also allowing us to expand game opportunities for all ages.”
The LCB Legends Travel program has also been experiencing rapid growth, going from 8 teams prepandemic
to 22 teams in 2025. In tandem with this growth, Lakes has seen several alumni of both the
travel and the recreation programs make High School baseball rosters locally with more expected in
the future.
In addition to capital improvements Lakes is investing both on the fields of Lakes’ main home of
Hickory Glen in Commerce and now, at Janowski Park, Lakes has also been expanding its offseason
programs, adding clinics and training for both travel and recreation-level players while offering coaches
additional training and resources in an effort to increase the value we deliver to players and families on
and off the field.
Residents of Milford can expect the fields at Janowski Park to be active in the evenings on most
weekdays and some weekends with Lakes games and practices throughout the spring and fall.
In celebration of this great new addition to the village of Milford and Lakes Baseball, Lakes is excited to
offer a special flash sale opportunity for $10 off a spring or summer registration, and $10 off a
